Religious Education

The 1988 Education Reform Act states that Religious Education should be taught to all children. At Seaton Sluice Middle School we aim to develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions represented in Britain. We help children to become more aware of the influence beliefs, values and traditions have on individuals, communities, societies and culture. Children learn to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences in light of their study. We encourage children to develop a positive attitude towards other people, accepting their right to hold beliefs different to their own.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from Religious Education lessons and/or collective worship. Such requests should be made to the Head Teacher.
