Children will encounter computers throughout their lives in their homes, in their workplace and in the various services they access. We think it is important that children should have the knowledge, skills and understanding of Information Communication Technology that will allow them to use, understand and critically evaluate the use of computer systems.
We are gradually equipping our classrooms for the 21st Century. Many already have projectors and interactive whiteboards so that teachers and children can use the latest multimedia resources. We have three ICT rooms equipped with a PC network. ICT is taught in a timetabled lesson throughout the school. The rooms are also used to access ICT across the curriculum. All classes have access to PC’s, televisions, videos, DVDs, still video and video cameras in order that ICT can be used to enrich other areas of learning, for example mathematics, art and French.
It is important that everyone has access to the wealth of cultural, scientific and intellectual material to be found on the WEB. However, we must ensure that students are protected from unsuitable material and that equipment is properly used. An acceptable use policy is in operation.
