History

History is taught as an integral part of topics in Years 5 and 6 – these include exploration, the ancient civilisations of Egypt/Greece and the Tudors.

Year 7 and 8 children study Medieval Realms, the making of the United Kingdom, the Roman Empire, the indigenous people of North America and the French Revolution. These help to develop an idea of chronology and to understand changes over periods of time. They explore concepts such as cause and consequence and widen their experiences of researching the past and posing historical questions through the use of local sites.
