Geography
 

Year 5 : The children study Geography through themes looking at Egypt and the importance of the Nile.  They focus on their local area comparing it with another locality in the United Kingdom.  They observe and record weather conditions.

 

Year 6 : Build on their knowledge of the local area and compare with a locality in Greece.  They study Water in the different forms and the effect of rivers on the landscape including how people affect the environment and combating river pollution.

 

The origin and function of settlements, natural disasters, the climate of the British Isles and conservation in the countryside are all encountered during Year 7

 

Year 8 children compare their lifestyle with those of developing countries.  A study of France takes place in the Spring Term.  This focuses on location, physical features and culture and is taught as a cross-curricular project linked with French, History and Technology.

 

The children develop their mapping skills and increase their knowledge of local, regional and world geography.
